The idea that nature is animated and alive has gained a lot of traction in North America and Europe recently. Animist understandings of the world are clearly visible across various cultural domains, ranging from literature and art to politics, the sciences, and spiritual practices today. Join us we look at influential lines of thinking in 20th-century culture, science, and philosophy, to better understand the historical background from which contemporary nature-based spiritualities have emerged.
